Jill P. Card, MS, Founder and Principal of Pattern Informatics, LLC, is an innovator within the applied statistics and mathematics consulting field in her combined use of evolutionary pattern recognition techniques and artificial neural networks with applied statistical techniques in deriving solutions to complex systems problems.
In 1998, Ms. Card Founded NeuMath, Inc., a Mass. S-corporation as an Applied Mathematics and Statistical Consultancy, consulting exclusively within the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, and Biomedical Devices industries. She worked with genomics researchers developing a multidimensional model for determining gene expression concentrations using Affymetrix microarray technology, designed a neural network-based medical outcomes model for accurate prediction of patient mortality post cardiac surgery, analyzed insurance and pharmacy database population for evaluation of secondary beneficial drug effects for Parkinson's patients, and developed custom neural network models and optimization software for a major pharmaceutical corporation marketing organziation.
In 2000, she founded IBEX Process Technology, Inc. and its successor, NeuMath, Inc. (C-Corp., 2004), as mathematical software development corporations for complex control solutions. The IBEX/NeuMath product designs are generic in design for application across engineering, biomedical, and pharmaceutical arenas for diverse problem solutions: including complex manufacturing yield enhancement, product and process quality assurance control, point of care medical intervention optimization, and wireless or e-diagnostic control strategies.
Ms. Card received a B.S. in Biology from Cornell University and a M.S. in Statistics from Florida State University. She has worked both as a Biostatistician within the Medical and Biotech fields and as a Consulting Statistician for the Computer and Semiconductor industries for over 28 years.
Michael H. Smith, Ph.D., is an organization consultant, for the past 38 years, specializing in resolving organizational conflicts, building teams and coaching executives. His clients include professional services firms (law, medical, accounting) high tech and others.
Dr. Smith enters organizations when situations are tense, defensiveness is high and productivity is often suffering as a result. He uses individual coaching and third-party facilitation techniques to resolve interpersonal and team issues and refocus efforts on organization objectives.
Dr. Smith is the author of the book, Management TechniquesThat Really Work. He's also been published in Cal Law Recorder, Northern California HumanResources Association Bulletinand other management and trade journals on topics such as managing change, team management and visionary leadership.
He has been interviewed in newspapers such as the SanFrancisco Business Timesand the Sacramento Business Journal. He has also appeared on numerousradio and television programs such as Michael Krasny's FORUM (KGO/ABC, San Francisco, CA), "Daybreak" (KRON/NBC, San Francisco, CA). Dr. Smith is an Adjunct Professor in the College of Professional Studies, University of San Francisco. He was Associate Chair and Lecturer at California State University, East Bay.He is also a past board member of the Northern California Human Resources Association (NCHRA), East Bay, and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee, Law Practice Management Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco.
Debbie Sniderman, MEng, is an engineering consultant, physicist, and materials scientist. She currently advises engineering managers on yield enhancement, project management, and processes improvement.
Ms. Sniderman has worked in cleanroom technology industries for more than 12 years in silicon, thin films, and III-V technologies. She has managed R&D labs, developed new micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) processes, and taken products from concept through process development into production as a senior research and development engineer. She has extensive plasma process experience with 10 years as a corporate senior manufacturing process engineer. She has provided her technical, analytical, and training skills as an engineering consultant since 2002.
Debbie has a master’s degree in Applied Engineering Physics from Cornell University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Engineering Physics and a B.S. in Materials Science. Her publication credits include original research in the use of refractory metals for MEMS and the use of neural networks for process automation.
Yi-Min Lai, MEng,is an Electrical and Computer Engineer with over 12 years experience working as a Software Developer within the high technology equipment industry and semiconductor manufacturing software control arena. She has extensive experience as a software designer, developer, and Quality Assurance test designer.
Ms. Lai was a lead designer and developer for IBEX Process Technology/NeuMath, Inc. involved in the release of the company’s neural network process and equipment tool controller, enterprise semiconductor fabrication facility equipment control solution, and fab-wide yield optimization products. She has experience at all levels of software product design and development, including interfacing with R&D and marketing groups for technical and marketing specification determination, working with product design teams on decisions regarding software architecture design, development tools, and new product releases. Ms. Lai is an accomplished Graphical User Interface developer, has developed internal data managements systems for integration of data from multiple external sources, has provided software support for manufacturing groups and field services organizations, and developed software installation and maintenance procedures.
While employed at NeuMath, Ms. Lai managed the company’s Taiwan semiconductor accounts and was the key interface with Semiconductor manufacturing and R&D test groups in initial presentation of NeuMath's neural network software solutions. She was responsible for all software installations in Taiwan and provided customer software support and training.
Ms. Lai received a B.S. Degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from Fu-Jen Catholic University, and a M.S. Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from State University of New York at Buffalo. She also received certification in Software Development from Boston University.
